Our scope of work included the development of the Process Communications section for transportation of hazardous mediums – flammable liquids, toxic substances, acids and alkalis.

Pharmaceutical substances are raw materials for the production of pharmaceuticals. Hundreds of grams of substances will turn into thousands of litres and millions of packages of finished drugs. This imposes an additional responsibility on the engineers.

All the subtleties of safety and fire protection, as well as optimum routing of the supply lines had to be considered. Due to the nature of the production, the pipelines run in clean rooms according to the GMP standard.

For each area through which the raw materials are transported, a separate pipeline branch is used, connected to the collectors and reactors where the pharmaceutical substances are synthesised.

We carried out serious calculations to determine the hydraulic parameters – the volume of the calculations amounted to about 100 pages. There are quite a lot of pipes and the routes are not simple. Given the vacuum method of transporting the mediums, it was necessary to calculate and recheck all the parameters in order to select the right equipment capacity – pressure rises and drops, pipe diameters, flow velocities, etc.
